Angala for Kale Nele

Bengaluru

This project involved the thoughtful renovation of a courtyard designed to serve as a versatile backdrop for a brand that celebrates the rich textile heritage of Karnataka, including Kasuti, Ilkal, and other local fabrics, embroidery, and handicrafts. The intent was to create a space that reflects the vibrancy and tradition of the brand while maintaining subtle, plain backgrounds that allow the products to stand out during photoshoots and displays. Color was introduced through the use of handcrafted Athangudi tiles, while self-textured materials such as pearl white stone and concrete finishes were selected to provide understated yet refined backdrops. The resulting palette balances brightness with neutrality, creating a harmonious visual composition.
An existing tulsi was carefully retained and refreshed with a brighter appearance, and a stone pillar with a traditional ‘jagli’ was added to further enhance the cultural character of the courtyard, resulting in a space that is both functional and rooted in heritage.
