This farmhouse in Thalli, Tamil Nadu, was designed for a client whose primary vision was for the structure to integrate seamlessly with the environment and its natural surroundings, with a strong emphasis on building through local and natural materials. The project blends traditional architecture with modern functionality, creating a home that feels rooted in its landscape.

Built predominantly with local materials, the house features sturdy stone pillars and stone cladding, creating a timeless aesthetic. The open floor plan enhances spatial fluidity, and the L-shaped layout allows ample natural light and ventilation to flow throughout the home. The L shape also allows for a traditional thotti (courtyard), an inviting focal point that anchors the design and provides a connection to the outdoors.

The thoughtful use of traditional elements, combined with sustainable practices, ensures the farmhouse is both elegant and environmentally conscious, offering a serene retreat that celebrates heritage and craftsmanship.
